Not Gay At All - super short story“I thought I told you not to wear lavender to work,” Bob said as he ambled down the sidewalk toward the bus stop.

“And I thought I was old enough to dress myself,” Cecil countered, walking beside him. His button-up work shirt was starched and freshly ironed and – as Bob had observed – unmistakably lavender.

“Well yes, but LAVENDER? Of all the things in your closet, I would never have expected YOU to come out.”

Cecil rolled his eyes. “Ha-ha, Bob. Another gay joke at my expense. Brilliant as ever. And for the record, this particular shade is called lilac.”

Bob Gone Wild - super short storyBob stumbled out of the brush, panting and disoriented. He was naked, he was emaciated, he was filthy, but most importantly, he was ALIVE. His normally pale skin was tanned and blistered from the sun, and covered in insect bites and scratches. His flamboyant hair was even more unruly than ever, full of leaves and nettles and twigs and who knew what else. He’d always been rather lanky, but his time spent in the unforgiving wilderness had whittled him down to a mere wisp of his former self.
